Everyone has to hang it up at some point, including Bryan. One of the biggest problems with wrestlers is finding a way out of the industry. If wrestling is all they have done over the years, it can be a rather big problem if they have nothing else to do once they leave. Sometimes you are able to get out of the ring on your own terms, and now one of the biggest names in wrestling today might be getting ready to get out.
Over the last few years, there are very few wrestlers who have reached the level of popularity of Daniel Bryan. His rise to the top of the company in 2013 and 2014 is one of the best stories that WWE has presented in a very long time and he has managed to turn into a legend (or even more of one than he already was). However, he has to slow down at some point and it might be sooner rather than later.
Bryan was a guest on the latest edition of the Bella Twins Podcast where he said that he might be ending his time as a full time wrestler when his current WWE contract expires. While it is not clear when his contract expires, Bryan mentioned that he will be taking six weeks of paternity leave when his wife Brie Bella gives birth and his contract is up “not long” after that. Bryan said that he might want to switch to wrestling once a month or once every few months. Bryan is not currently scheduled to wrestle at WrestleMania 36.
I think you can easily call him a legend. Check out Bryan in the ring:
Opinion: This isn’t the biggest surprise as Bryan is 38 years old and has been rather banged up for a lot of his career. After missing all of that time away from the ring, maybe he just wanted to come back for one more run before stepping away. There is no shame whatsoever in wanting to get out of wrestling and be a father. If Bryan can do that and be happy, then there is nothing wrong with that.
How long do you expect Bryan to stay in the ring? Who else would you like to see him face? Let us know in the comments below.
