They have a plan. NXT is in a weird place at the moment as they are trying to both rebuild and build for the future at the same time. That is not something that can be done in a hurry but they are doing what they can to make it work. There are a lot of talented people in NXT though and they can do a lot of things to make the place that much better. That’s what NXT is trying and they did it three times this week.
Titles have played an important role throughout NXT’s history and that is likely to be the case for a long time to come. NXT treats all of its titles like big deals and if someone gets a title shot, more often than not it means that they are in a pretty good place in the promotion. NXT makes it seem important when someone gets a shot and now three more titles are set to be defended.
This week on NXT, three new #1 contenders were named. First, the Undisputed Era’s Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly defeated Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch to become the new #1 contenders to the Tag Team Titles, with their title shot coming next week on NXT. Later in the show, Candice LeRae defeated Shotzi Blackheart to earn a shot at the Women’s Title at Halloween Havoc on October 28. Finally, the show ended with Johnny Gargano attacking North American Champion Damian Priest. Blackheart, the host of Halloween Havoc, announced that Gargano and LeRae’s title matches will be decided by Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal.
It’s a big set of matches. Check out how we got here:
Opinion: This all sounds good as NXT knows how to set up some title matches. The Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal aspect helps a lot and really tied back into the history of Halloween Havoc. It’s always nice to see them throwing something out there that plays into the material that they have available. If even one of the title matches work, they should be fine and those are some pretty good odds.
