The road to recovery. Injuries are always a possibility in any wrestling match and there is no way around them. You never know when you are going to see someone get hurt or injured during a match and there is no way to guarantee that it won’t happen. It can happen at any level and it was the case during the main event of a major show that took place earlier this month. Now a big name has taken a big step towards recovery.

The main event of NXT Takeover: 31 saw NXT Champion Finn Balor defending his title against Kyle O’Reilly. The two of them beat the fire out of each other until Balor was finally able to put O’Reilly away with the Coup de Grace. It was an incredibly physical match though, with both men taking a beating. One of the men took such a beating that they needed surgery, and now that has been taken care of.

Balor has posted a tweet saying that he has undergone surgery to repair his jaw, which was broken in two places during his match with O’Reilly. There is no word on when Balor will be able to get back in the ring, though he did appear in a pre-taped promo on last week’s NXT. Balor won the vacant title on September 8, following former champion Karrion Kross being forced to vacate the title after he suffered a separated shoulder.

It was a heck of a fight. Check out the match where Balor was injured:

Opinion: Balor already undergoing surgery is a good sign as it means he can be healed up sooner rather than later. One of the benefits about the NXT Title is that NXT can go a long time between major shows, meaning that Balor can take a little extra time to heal up. If he can speak, you can easily have him stand around cutting promos while looking intimidating. It works out well enough and hopefully can avoid having to vacate the title.

What do you think of Balor? How long will he hold the title? Let us know in the comments below.
