The match in question is to feature Brock Lesnar defending his Universal Championship against Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman and Samoa Joe in a Fatal 4-Way match. Last week, Paul Heyman dropped the announcement that if Lesnar loses, he will leave WWE. All three full-time competitors would face off in a Triple Threat match. If you missed the match or would like to remind yourself, we have provided a clip of the match below.
According to WON, nobody on the writing or production team are aware of the finish to the match. This also goes for the competitors aside from Lesnar himself, who is the only person to know the result. Lesnar’s contract reportedly allows him to see match finishes well in advance.
Both Vince McMahon and Heyman have been advocates for Lesnar using very real looking brutality in his matches. Examples of these include against John Cena back at ‘Extreme Rules’ in 2012 and most recently with Randy Orton at ‘SummerSlam’ last year. Following the latter match, Lesnar was even confronted by Chris Jericho who thought it had been real anger and frustration. Lesnar is reportedly allowed to “hardy way” himself on purpose to add color. This is banned for everyone else.
WON say they have confirmed that regardless of who walks out of ‘SummerSlam’ as Universal Champion, Lesnar and Heyman are under contract with WWE through to “at least” April 2018. Lesnar is booked for the ‘No Mercy’ pay-per-view on September 24 and a few live events after ‘SummerSlam.’
Wrestling Rumors will keep you up to date on Lesnar’s contract and appearances for WWE as more information continues to come out.
Editor’s Note:
I don’t know whether Lesnar will win. I think they could have someone come out and cost him the match to make him drop the title but continue working for the company. That way, Heyman and Lesnar could use the claim that they have ‘unfinished business’ in the company. They could also possibly go away as if Lesnar were gone only to have Lesnar later arrive in shock fashion and re-insert himself into the company.
