Following this past week’s edition of “Monday Night Raw,” WWE began running with a storyline injury for former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton.
Orton, who seemingly turned babyface by attacking Seth Rollins alongside Triple H and other members of The Authority, was then taken out by Rollins with a “Curb Stomp” on the outside on top of steel steps.
In a storyline update on its site, WWE gave an prognosis for his eventual return:
WWE.com has learned that Orton has been diagnosed with a concussion following further tests by WWE physician Dr. Stephen Daquino. “Randy exhibited symptoms of a concussion after the Curb Stomp on the announcer’s desk,” Daquino reported to WWE.com “He also had some facial contusions. Currently he is not cleared to compete and his return timetable is undetermined.”
It had been speculated prior to “RAW” the company would be writing off Orton with a storyline injury. He is slated to potentially miss the upcoming “Survivor Series” pay-per-view, as he will be away from the company filming “The Condemned 2: Desert Prey.” The note of an “undetermined” timetable for a return would seemingly confirm he will be off television for the foreseeable future as he films.
Wrestling Rumors noted he had been pulled from the United Kingdom tour the company just embarked on, pulling a major draw off the leg.
Editor’s Note
Seems he will be a full-fledged babyface from hereon out, which is OK by me. We ached for him to turn heel, and he had a healthy year-long run.
