SmackDown Live’s second exclusive pay-per-view, No Mercy, is set to go down this Sunday, and the blue brand is looking to finally smash its reputation as WWE’s “B” show. The weekly program has done a terrific job of building this weekend’s storylines, and every title is up for grabs, including the most prestigious prize in pro wrestling. For some the stakes are even higher championship gold, but will the matches be able to deliver?

Tune in to find out October 9th at 8PM Eastern on the WWE Network.

John Cena vs Dean Ambrose vs AJ Styles for the WWE World Championship

The Story: Fans knew AJ Styles was good–phenomenal, even–but no one could have predicted how quickly he’d rise to the top of WWE. With victories over some of the company’s biggest names, including both his opponents at No Mercy, it seems that no one is yet in position to take the WWE World Championship from the Face that Runs the Place.

But Styles has never faced Dean Ambrose and John Cena at the same time. Ambrose seeks to recapture the championship after a low blow saw Styles take it at Backlash. Cena suffered a clean loss to Styles at SummerSlam, but the 15-time champion seeks to tie the record of 16 world title reigns, letting him get in the “greatest ever” conversation alongside the likes of Ric Flair.

The Prediction: Rumors make it seem that AJ’s victory tonight is all but assured, as it seems that both Cena and Ambrose will soon be embarking on temporary leaves to film other projects. Other whispers suggest that Randy Orton is soon in line for a major push, and a title feud between the Viper and the Phenomenal One would make a lot of sense.

Regardless of predictable outcomes, AJ has yet to have a bad match in WWE, Cena is the one of the company’s most consistent performer, and while Ambrose’s track record is a bit spottier, he’s been a part of some classic battles. This main event is absolutely worthy of its spot on the card, and should prove an excellent showcase of all three performers.
