Sometimes, seemingly unrelated things connect in big ways. Chocolate and peanut butter! That’s a great example. But to get those great combinations, sometimes you just have to keep smashing things together until you find what works. At least, I assume that’s how it goes, because that’s the only explanation I can come up with for the latest WWE-licensed toy line.

Ninja Superstars figures feature the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles decked out in the gear of a variety of WWE Superstars. Leonardo takes on the guise of John Cena, Donatello indulges his darker side as the Undertaker, Raphael gets into the gear of Sting, and the party dude himself, Michelangelo, takes on the role of the late, great “Macho Man” Randy Savage.

These figures come courtesy of Playmates Toys, the long time licensee for TMNT. Each one is 6″ tall with full articulation and a variety of accessories.

Some may ask “Why?” Others may ask “Why not?” I can come up with satisfactory answers for neither question. The wrestlers chosen hit all the proper eras of nostalgia, at least, though the choice of Randy Savage over Hulk Hogan is pointed, to say the least.

The toys will hit Walmart exclusively early in November.

At least the Ninja Superstars will have a natural adversary in Rocksteady, who was portrayed by Sheamus in the last big budget TMNT film. Of course, fans may balk at the idea of mixing the classic turtles with modern interpretations. But then, the classic turtles weren’t outfitted for Attitude Adjustments, either.
