8/23 Smackdown *Spoilers*

This week’s episode of Smackdown was taped in the Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, California. The show will air in the US on Friday, August 23rd.

WWE Smackdown

– Vickie Guerrero, Smackdown GM, opens up the show by introducing WWE Champion Randy Orton. Orton cuts a promo on becoming the new champ. He says he didn’t know Triple H was going to screw Daniel Bryan and didn’t need anyone’s help.

– Enter Daniel Bryan, who puts over John cena and then verbally disrespects Orton. He then claims that Orton has everything handed to him. Bryan wants a rematch for the Championship, but Orton refuses. He then goes for an RKO, but Bryan sees it coming and lands a drop kick instead, knocking Orton out of the ring. Bryan then leads “Yes” chants as the segment ends.

– Backstage, Wade Barret asks Vickie Gurrero for a match against Daniel Bryan on the program. Guerrero agrees to the match, but then announces that it will be a steel cage match.

(1) *Intercontinental Champion* Curtis Axel def. Cody Rhodes.

– Paul Heyman cuts a promo on CM Punk. Heyman then praised Brock Lesnar for his victory over Punk at SummerSlam. Curtis Axel challenges Punk to a rematch next Monday on RAW.

(2) Dolph Ziggler def. Big E. Langston.

(3) *World Heavyweight Champion* Alberto Del Rio def. Christian via Submission. Del Rio wins with the cross armbreaker.

– After the match, Del Rio tried to cut the same promo he did on RAW, but is interrupted by Ricardo Rodriguez yet again. Ricardo praised the crowd in Spanish, then brought out his new client Rob Van Dam. Christian then drop kicks ADR and Van Dam hits the Rolling Thunder. RVD and Ricardo then hold up the World title to end the segment.

(4) Big Show / Mark Henry def. 3MB Handicap Match.

(5) Darren Young def. Antono Cesaro.

– SummerSlam AXXESS footage is shown.

(6) Daniel Bryan def. Wade Barrett Steel Cage Match.

– Post match, Bryan gets attacked by Randy Orton, who was waiting under the ring the entire bout. Orton stands over Bryan as the fans chant “You suck” to end the show.
