According to a report by F4WOnline.com, the reason why Randy Orton was given the win in the WWE Championship Money in the Bank Ladder match this past Sunday was partly from the shock value that would come from it.

Company officials felt that no one would see it coming, as Daniel Bryan was the heavy favorite heading into the PPV.

The decision to have him win the briefcase was made two to three weeks prior to the event.

One of the reasons behind Orton losing matches as of late was because WWE officials wanted “to bring him down to build him back up”. His win at Money in the Bank was meant to be a catalyst towards a stronger push in the coming months.

There is no word yet on whether his latest injury will affect his status as the MITB briefcase holder moving forward.
