Randy Orton was recently interviewed by Sports Illustrated to promote the USA Network program Shooter, which Orton had a role in. Considering the WWE’s longstanding relationship with USA, it’s not surprising to see wrestlers pop up on USA programs (it happened several times on Psych, for what it’s worth). However, while Orton was promoting his acting role on Shooter, he did not spend the interview talking about, say, his role in 12 Rounds 2: Reloaded. Instead, he talked about several things related to the WWE, including his thoughts on John Cena’s future with the company.

Cena has not been appearing on WWE programming the last few weeks, and as he gets up there in years (relatively speaking) and finds success outside the world of WWE, there are those who think he might go the way of The Rock, and end up leaving wrestling behind. Orton doesn’t see that happening, though, saying:
“He’s going to come back and he’s going to do every town that’s on the schedule when he does come back. I might be wrong here, but when Rock left, he left and then made appearances here and there. Cena, one-hundred percent, bleeds WWE and he always will. I know that much about him.”
Orton also discussed the heated altercation between Chris Jericho and Brock Lesnar after Summerslam. As you may recall, Orton was busted open by Lesnar at that event, and Jericho decided he wanted answers about what had happened in the ring. However, Orton indicated that the backstage event was a littler overblown in the reporting, saying, “He was just coming up to check on his boy, that’s what it boiled down to, and I think that’s awesome. You hear all these things about how they were going to fight, but I don’t think Jericho wanted to fight Brock, I’m just going to throw that out there.”
