WWE taped the Jan. 1 edition of “WWE Main Event” as well as the Jan. 3 edition of “WWE Smackdown” in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 29, 2013.
The following are the spoilers for the Jan. 3 edition of “WWE Smackdown:”
It is announced that WWE Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes and Goldust will defend their titles against Erick Rowan and Luke Harper of The Wyatt Family.
1) The Usos def. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns via disqualification- Before the match, The Shield cut a promo saying that they are stronger than ever. Dean Ambrose interfered in the match, causing the disqualification that gave The Usos the victory. CM Punk then made the save, which led to Smackdown General Manager Vickie Guerrero making a six-man match for the main event.
2) R-Truth def. Fandango– Truth got the victory thanks in part to a distraction by Cameron and Naomi, who appeared on the stage.
Next, Renee Young interviews Intercontinental Champion Big E Langston in a backstage segment. Langston talks about Mark Henry getting beat down by Brock Lesnar on “Monday Night Raw,” which has yet to be broadcast yet. Henry will apparently challenge Lesnar on RAW on Dec. 30. Curtis Axel then appears to set up a match between him and Langston.
3) WWE Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes and Goldust def. Erick Rowan and Luke Harper via pinfall in a title match- The Brotherhood got the victory via a roll-up pin.
