While speaking about WWE’s plans for Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33 on Monday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about three possible scenarios, one of which involved a “big surprise.” Meltzer didn’t give any additional information about who the surprise opponent for Reigns would be if WWE chose to go with that idea, but on Friday’s Observer Radio, he dropped the name of the guy who could be the “big surprise.”
Towards the end of the show, Meltzer said that there are three matches that are already locked in for WrestleMania 33: Triple H vs. Seth Rollins, Big Show vs. Shaquille O’Neal, and Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg. He also said that, while John Cena vs. Undertaker is likely, it may not happen because WWE is thinking about putting The Deadman in the ring with Roman Reigns on April 2.
“So here’s the situation with WrestleMania: there’s three matches that are already a done deal, which are Bill Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar, Shaquille O’Neal vs. Big Show, and Seth Rollins vs. Triple H. Those three are pretty much locked. John Cena vs. Undertaker is probable, but it’s not locked. I’m guessing Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman, although there’s very much talk about Roman Reigns vs. Undertaker as well. So that’s a possibility.”
We’ve been hearing the Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman WrestleMania rumor for several months now, and it does actually look like WWE is building towards that match. So, prepare yourselves to see Strowman win the Royal Rumble match, and he may even break Reigns’ record for most eliminations in a single Rumble match in the process.

We’ve seen some fans speculate about a possible Undertaker vs. Reigns match, but up until Friday’s Observer Radio, no one really knew that a match between The Deadman and the current United States Champion was on the table.
