WWE’s original plan for Samoa Joe was to have the ex-NXT Champion take on Seth Rollins at the Fastlane show in early-March. But now that Rollins is out of action due to a knee injury, Joe has been left without an opponent at WWE’s final big show before WrestleMania 33.

As of this writing, there are only three confirmed matches for next month’s show: Kevin Owens vs. Bill Goldberg for the Universal Championship, Neville vs. Jack Gallagher for the Cruiserweight Championship, and Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman. Also, most are expecting them to add Chris Jericho vs. Sami Zayn for the United States Championship to Fastlane, but, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, they may put Sami against Samoa Joe on March 5.

“Yeah [Joe seems to be lost right now],” said Meltzer while appearing on the Live Audio Wrestling podcast. “If you’re gonna put him with a babyface, the next guy down is probably Sami Zayn. I suppose you could do that match just to do it, and that actually could [work] if you just said, ‘okay, you guys have 25 minutes, you gotta save the show,’ they’d probably tear the house down. So that may be the way to go.”
