There’s a ton of speculation surrounding former NXT Champion Samoa Joe, and whether or not he’ll make his main roster debut at the Royal Rumble. The speculation stems from the fact that WWE has taken Joe out of the NXT Championship picture, and, on top of that, there’s really nothing left for him to do down in the company’s developmental territory.

Whether or not Joe debuts as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble remains to be seen, but he is currently scheduled to appear at some NXT live events in February, which may mean that WWE will be leaving him down in the promotion until after WrestleMania 33.

Back in December, it was reported that Joe was suffering from an injury, but him being advertised for live events in February suggests that the injury isn’t major.

WWE has brought guys up to the main roster while still using them in NXT. The most notable example of this is Kevin Owens, who was called up to the main roster while he was still the NXT Champion. So, they could be doing the same thing with Joe.
