One thing that initially launched the NXT brand was the Women’s division that had so much talent and featured the future of women’s wrestling.

At the time that made NXT so different because it was the opposite of what the main roster was doing. It started with Emma vs. Paige, and then it transitioned into “The Four Horsewomen.”

No one ever thought NXT would be able to top the four-way combination of Bayley, Becky Lynch, Charlotte, and Sasha Banks when all four were changing the game in women’s wrestling.

However, if you look at the WWE development roster and see the quality of the female roster, the women’s division is about to be better than it ever has been.

Currently, Asuka is the NXT Women’s Champion. She’s been brutal, vibrant, and awesome in such a different way than we’ve seen before in WWE’s women.

As of this writing, Bayley is the top face and Nia Jax is the top heel. Rounding out the rest of the roster is Alexa Bliss, Carmella, and others like Liv Morgan, Peyton Royce, and Tessa Blanchard.

Also under contract are women like Nikki Storm, who is very good. Aliyah is another developmental talent that is improving a great deal. There are some of the women from Tough Enough like Sara Lee, who are getting a chance and there are plenty of others that are getting opportunities to show their skills during live shows.

If you break it down, there are three genuine stars in Asuka, Bayley, and Nia Jax. There is a pretty decent midcard, new signees, and a lot of development talent that could be very good.

The point is that it’s not a bold statement to make that NXT’s women’s division is very strong right now. The argument could easily be made that it’s deeper than it has ever been and the company could add more talent at a moment’s notice.

At some point this summer, NXT is going to lose Bayley for the main roster, but there should be no concern for the future of the division. It’s very deep and has a lot of potential to be better than anything we’ve seen before, which is saying a lot.

Are you excited for the future of women’s wrestling?
