Austin Aries is a spectacular wrestler and one of the most decorated and skilled in the last fifteen years of the industry. He’s “The Greatest Man That Ever Lived” for a reason.

However, his run in NXT hasn’t been nearly as spectacular or great. Thus far, it’s been fun. The problem is that Aries has a big reputation and his current booking is leaving a lot of people who haven’t seen him before to ask if that’s the best he’s got in him?

He was a part of a short feud with Baron Corbin before he went to the main roster. At NXT Takeover: The End, he had a very good match against Shinsuke Nakamura, but he came out on the losing side.

Now, Samoa Joe is the NXT Champion. Bobby Roode has debuted and will be on the weekly programming sooner rather than later.

The rumors have Finn Balor challenging Nakamura over the next few months, so where does NXT programming have planned for Austin Aries?

Aries is a chameleon and there are many things he could do. For example, he could put over Andrade “Cien” Almas, but Aries is a guy who should be pushed, not doing the pushing.

He could turn heel, or get involved with someone like Tye Dillinger. Regardless, it just seems like he’s going to have to wait some time before some spots open up.

What do you think is next for Austin Aries in NXT?
