The card for NXT Takeover: Revenge is starting to take shape. It was announced yesterday that Samoa Joe will defend the NXT Championship against Finn Balor in the promotion’s first-ever Steel Cage match.

Elsewhere on the card, Austin Aries will face Shinsuke Nakamura in what should be a great match. The Revival will get their rematch with American Alpha and the NXT Women’s Championship match as also been revealed.

When Asuka defeated Bayley at NXT Takeover: Dallas, many people assumed that the latter would be getting her rematch at the next Takeover event.

During this week’s episode, Bayley ended up suffering a leg injury within the storyline that will force her to miss some time according to NXT General Manager William Regal.

Later on during last night’s NXT television tapings, Nia Jax defeated Alexa Bliss and Carmella to become the No. 1 Contender for Asuka’s Women’s Championship and will challenge her at Takeover: Revenge on June 8th.

The build-up for Asuka vs. Jax has been going on for several months. A match-up between them was being teased even before Jax went on to face Bayley at Takeover: London.

It’s going to be very interesting to see what happens when those two are actually in the ring together because Asuka finally has someone she may not be able to intimidate.
