It was announced shortly after the WWE Draft and brand extension that Shelton Benjamin would be returning to WWE and would be exclusive to the SmackDown brand.
Unfortunately, his return to WWE was delayed by a torn rotator cuff that required surgery before he could step foot back into a WWE ring again. His WWE status is still in the air, but there is an update.
According to a recent report from WrestlingInc.com, Shelton Benjamin will still be returning to WWE later his year or in early 2017. It’s very likely he could return to WWE during the “Royal Rumble.”
All of that will depend on his revovery after his surgery, which he just had yesterday. Now, it’s up to him and his recovery process to figure out when he will be returning to WWE.
Shelton Benjamin posted the following on Twitter revealing his surgery and letting the WWE Universe know that the recovery process for his WWE return has begun:

The great thing about Benjamin’s return will be his ability to fill any role on the roster. His experience and skill would allow him to challenge for the WWE title or IC title. He’ll have unlimited options.
Are you excited to see Shelton Benjamin return to WWE soon?
