Heath Slater has something unqiue going with this “hottest free agent” angle he’s been working, especially on SmackDown since the WWE Draft and brand extension.

Slater has found himself in the finals of SmackDown’s Tag Team tournament alongside Rhyno that will conclude at during this Sunday’s “Backlash” PPV.

However, it is unlikely that Slater and Rhyno are going to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship because The Usos just turned heel and losing at this point would hurt their momentum.

The question is where does Heath Slater go from there? Sure, he can make the argument that he almost won the Tag Team titles, but he’s essentially right back where he started, right?

There are a lot of different ways this “free agent” angle with Slater can end, but it will most likely end in a win or bust situation against a big name that will ultimately give him the contract with SmackDown.

The bigger question here is where does Slater go once he’s “signed” with a brand? Does he go right back to the midcard role he was in before the angle? Frankly, Slater is too over now with the WWE Universe and something like a feud with The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship seems like a good idea.
