Cody Rhodes is a busy man these days and he’s doing a lot of great work outside of WWE right now. He’s been working with PWG and many other promotion over the past several weeks.

There have been reports about Rhodes working with Ring of Honor later this year and TNA Wrestling sooner rather than later, but he’s run into a little bit of a speedbump.

As of this writing, the “Rhodes” surname is still very much under the control of WWE, so Cody Rhodes is finding it increasingly difficult to use the Rhodes name outside of WWE.

According to a report from CageSideSeats.com, the trailer for the recent PWG’s “Battle of Los Angeles” DVD is listing Cody Rhodes under just “Cody R,” which just isn’t as catchy.

Apparently, WWE is cracking down on Cody using the Rhodes name and will be for the future, especially as he starts working for bigger promotions like Ring of Honor and TNA Wrestling.

It’s unfortunate that Cody can’t use his father’s surname, but there are a lot of creative names he could use outside of WWE. There is nowhere to go but up from “Cody R.”

Do you think Cody Rhodes should change his wrestling name outside of WWE?
