After Raw, many people were curious about Del Rio’s place in the group given his current on-screen relationship with Zeb Colter and establishing the “MexAmerican” Championship.
It’s now being reported by the Wrestling Observer that Colter and Del Rio are most likely splitting up and dissolving their partnership sooner rather than later. It’s not being seen by most in the company to be a long-term collaboration, and it could end as early as the Raw after “TLC.”
Honestly, the Colter and Del Rio alliance has been a mess. For their on-screen characters, it doesn’t make much sense considering how these two characters feuded so passionately in 2013 at Wrestlemania 29.
The partnership has done a superb job of bringing Jack Swagger back into the fold where he belongs, but the “MexAmerican” angle hasn’t picked up much steam, and it’s not the best use of either man’s time.
There is no word on what WWE plans to do with either man. Colter was absent from television for a long time before returning with Del Rio, but the current United States Champion is now in the League of Nations group.
We’ll be able to see the latter evolve over time. But as of this writing, the Colter and Del Rio partnership is coming to an end.
