10. Orton Cashes in On Daniel Bryan – SummerSlam 2013

During the summer of 2013, Daniel Bryan was the hottest wrestler in the world. At Summerslam, Bryan successfully defeated John Cena clean to become WWE Champion. After only a few minutes, Triple H turned heel, gave Bryan the Pedigree and Randy Orton cashed in the Money in the Bank contract to steal the WWE Championship from Daniel Bryan.

That booking decision was the first step that eventually led Daniel Bryan to become champion again at Wrestlemania 30. However, that victory was short-lived. Very soon after Wrestlemania, Daniel Bryan would begin a run of injuries that have derailed his career to today.

Looking back at it, Daniel Bryan should have become WWE Champion from Summerslam 2013 and ran with it until he couldn’t any longer. That would have been a better decision than the year long build to a championship run that would be cut down by bad luck. WWE probably wishes they could take this one back.
