It finally happened. Sometimes wrestling storylines feel like they are taking forever before getting to what seems to be a very obvious ending. That can be a problem if a story doesn’t click that well but sometimes you can get a big payoff to make everything worth it in the end. WWE has been running a storyline just like that and now we might have seen the big turning point.
One of the biggest and longest running stories in WWE today has been the relationship between Bayley and Sasha Banks. The two have gone from hated enemies to best friends who owned all of the Women’s Titles in WWE. Fans have been waiting for one of them to turn on the other for a long time now and we finally got to the point, though it did not go as expected.
This week on SmackDown, Bayley and Banks lost their rematch for the Women’s Tag Team Titles. Banks’ knee was injured during the match and she was tended to by medics. Bayley then attacked Banks and stomped on the knee several times. Bayley wrapped a chair around the leg but then switched it to Banks’ neck and Pillmanized it off the middle rope. Banks was taken away in an ambulance.
Leave the memories alone. Check out some of what led us here:
Opinion: I liked this a lot as it wasn’t what was expected but it still fits. Bayley has been Women’s Champion for over a year now (minus the less than a week long Charlotte reign) but she still hasn’t had that big moment. I’m not sure if this is enough for that big moment, but it was more memorable than anything else she had done. Everything is set for Banks to come back and take care of Bayley for good, and I’d certainly be down to see it.
