So much for that. We are about six months removed from WrestleMania 36 but that means that it is already time to start planning for WrestleMania. The biggest show of the year is already starting to come into very early shape and that is going to make for some interesting moments on the way to the show. I’m not sure what that is going to mean, but WWE might already have something new planned for the main event.
Since WrestleMania 36 came and went, rumors have already been coming out regarding the main event of WrestleMania 37. The most popular rumored match was Edge vs. Randy Orton in an I Quit match for Orton’s WWE Championship to complete their trilogy. The match was scheduled to take place at Summerslam, but was postponed due to Edge tearing his bicep at Backlash. That is a big time injury, and now we might know how long things are going to take.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE may be changing their plans for the WrestleMania 37 main event due to Edge’s recovery taking longer than expected. Edge’s injury took place in June and had a recovery time of six to eight months, which would put Edge’s return in February. This may not be long enough to set up the match, though if Edge returns earlier, there is a chance that he could win the Royal Rumble to set up the title match. However, plans for the main event are still up in the air.
It would be the next step in a big series. Check out how we got here:
Opinion: I’m not sure what this is going to mean but at the same time, I’ve never exactly been interested in seeing Edge vs. Orton in the main event in the first place. It was a good match and I could go for seeing it again, but at the same time, it is a match that absolutely does not need to be for the title. If nothing else, I could go for Edge facing someone other than Orton in his comeback, as aside from the Royal Rumble, Orton has been Edge’s only opponent so far. Shake things up a bit.
