Well you knew people would be talking. On Tuesday night, CM Punk made a rather surprising return to WWE, marking his first appearance for the company in five and a half years. Punk appeared at the end of the second episode of WWE Backstage, promising to see us again next week. This would suggest that Punk will be a regular part of the show going forward, which is certainly a way to get Backstage some attention. But what did the people on the show think about it?

The end of the show saw Punk make his return, joining regular hosts Renee Young and Booker T. along with special guests Samoa Joe and Adam Cole. As mentioned yesterday, only Young knew that Punk was going to be appearing on the show. The other three were all surprised by Punk’s return, which is why WWE has released a video showing what happened after the show went off the air. Punk and Young’s comments are also included, along with all of the other three.

Surprise! Check out what the show’s regulars thought about Punk’s return:

And just to make it complete, check out Punk’s return as well:

Opinion: I’m still not sure I believe what I saw. Punk was someone I would have bet on never showing up in WWE again but over the last few years, I have learned to never say never in wrestling. That is the kind of special feeling that you do not get in a lot of other forms of entertainment and it was really cool to see something like this happen. I’m not sure what this is going to mean for Punk’s future, though you know everyone is going to be asking if he is getting back in the ring at some point. Normally I would say no, but he just walked back onto a WWE show so anything is possible.
