The people are talking. There are very few things that can get fans’ interest up in WWE these days. Maybe it is the product as a whole or maybe it is having so much content that almost nothing can be done again to get their interest up. As a result, there are only so many things that truly work these days but when they do happen, they make quite the impact. That seems to be the case with something that happened on Tuesday and now there are a few more details.

This week on WWE Backstage, CM Punk made his long awaited return to WWE after a nearly six year absence. Punk did not have much to say as he appeared at the very end of the show, but it does seem that he will be appearing again going forward. The move was quite the surprise, despite Punk hinting at making an appearance. It was clear that there were several moving parts to such a move, but now we have a better idea of how everything came together.

But first, what happened? Check out the big return moment:

There are a variety of details coming in on the story, according to PWInsider.com. Here are a few of the important points:

• Punk appeared at the end of the show with hosts Renee Young, Booker T., Adam Cole and Samoa Joe, though only Young was told in advance for the purposes of keeping the return a secret.
• Punk has only signed with FOX and has no official deal with WWE, though this could change in the future.
• FOX made the decision to bring Punk in but WWE completely approved of the move.
• The deal was only signed this week.
• Punk will be a regular correspondent on the show but will not be appearing weekly.

I wonder if it could get this kind of a reaction. Check out one of Punk’s most famous moments:

Opinion: The more I think about this, the more it makes my head spin. Punk has been gone for so long and has teased a return for so long now that it was almost impossible to imagine him ever coming back. That is exactly what we got though and it is the kind of announcement that is going to get people talking. Normally I would say I can’t imagine him wrestling again, but I couldn’t imagine him coming back to WWE either and look where that got me.

What did you think of the return? Will Punk wrestle again? Let us know in the comments below.
