That’s a different way to go. The biggest wrestling story of the year has been Vince McMahon’s retirement from WWE, following an investigation into a series of payments made to McMahon to various female WWE employees. There were multiple payments investigated, but now something new has come out to take the situation in a very different direction.
According to Wrestlenomics, two new payments discovered earlier this week, totaling $5 million, may have been donations made to Donald Trump’s The Trump Foundation charity in 2007 ($4 million) and 2009 ($1 million) may have been used as appearance fees for Trump, who appeared in WWE in those same years. In 2007, Trump was part of the Battle of the Billionaires at WrestleMania 23 and purchases Monday Night Raw in 2009. The payments were listed as payments from WWE but may have come from either McMahon or his wife Linda. It is not clear if this would have been illegal or not.
Opinion: This McMahon story does not seem like it could get any weirder and then it just keeps going. I’m almost scared to know what kind of details are going to come out next and that makes it all the more fascinating in a somewhat morbid way. Hopefully this doesn’t keep getting worse, but if McMahon has broken the law, he deserves to be punished for it, and that still might be the case.
What do you think of the situation? Will McMahon get in legal trouble? Let us know in the comments below.
