What could have been. There are a lot of wrestlers in WWE’s history. Some of them are bigger names and some of them are minor, but there are a lot who are in the middle. Maybe they had some success here or there, but they never reached either extreme end of the spectrum. One name who fits into that description nearly made a return, only to have a bigger name turn it down.
WWE recently aired their documentary series on the Ruthless Aggression Era, which was one of the most influential times the company has ever seen. There were all kinds of names appearing, with some of them being more successful than others. The ones who did make it became legends, but the ones who only got close did well enough on their own. One of them almost made a comeback.
Former WWE star Epico was recently interviewed by Super Luchas (translation by Wrestlinginc.com) where he revealed that WWE almost rehired Carlito. Epico had spoken to Vince McMahon about bringing Carlito back into the company and was given the go ahead, but three months later, an unnamed person had changed McMahon’s mind, resulting in Carlito receiving an offer with pay equal to a developmental contract. Carlito turned it down and has stayed in Puerto Rico instead. Carlito wrestled for WWE from 2005-2010.
You might remember Carlito. Check out his time in WWE:
Opinion: I was never all that big on Carlito so I can’t bring myself to be too annoyed over him not coming back. That being said, I can understand why someone who has had success in WWE before wasn’t going to accept the equivalent of a developmental offer. Maybe that won’t be the case one day, but at 41 years old, it isn’t likely that Carlito will have many chances left to come back.
