I know you Ali! WWE is the biggest wrestling promotion in the world and that means that they have a lot of wrestlers that fans are going to recognize. The company runs in major arenas and in some of the biggest cities in the country, which is one of the things that sets them apart from almost any other promotion. They have more resources available to them than anyone else in wrestling, but at the end of the day it all comes down to the wrestlers and the fans. That’s why it can be helpful to surprise them every now and then, even if they are not in WWE.
On occasion, WWE will allow its regular talent to appear on an independent wrestling show. While it does not happen often, it is something of a favor to the talent who may have performed there before or as a way for WWE to do something that won’t hurt them in the long run. It is designed to get the fans a bit of a thrill and can give WWE some positive results as well. That was the case again on Saturday as a WWE star appeared on an independent show.
Welcome home. Check out quite the surprise and see the details below:
As shown on his Twitter account, WWE superstar Ali appeared at Dreamwave Wrestling’s Dream On event in La Salle, Illinois on Saturday. Ali released a clip of himself getting into the ring and posing on the ropes, though there is no indication that he did anything physical at the show. The event was a bit of a homecoming for Ali, who wrestled regularly for the promotion from 2009-2016. Ali is currently scheduled to wrestle on the upcoming Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia next Thursday.
Opinion: This is one of those things that WWE does every now and then and doesn’t hurt anything whatsoever. Ali showing up for what was likely just a promo and a “hi how are you” moment is going to make the Dreamwave fans a little happier with WWE, which you don’t get to see very often. They can’t do it all the time as they would want their wrestlers wrestling for them but for something so simple and easy to do, it was a nice moment and that’s all WWE and Dreamwave can ask for.
Just in case this isn’t cool enough for Ali, he did this rather awesome thing too:
To clarify some reports, my earnings from the 10/31 event will be donated to @charitywater.
