It makes sense to get him in front of the crowd. There are very few stars in wrestling as hot as Bray Wyatt has been over the last few months. His promos had been outstanding and the split personality has been great and it was almost impossible to imagine WWE screwing things up. Then WWE managed to screw the whole thing up at Hell In A Cell, which destroyed almost everything Wyatt had done for the last several months. That means something needs to be done to fix it up, and that is what they were trying on Friday.
This week’s SmackDown dark match featured Cesaro vs. The Miz. The match saw Cesaro swing Miz around for about twenty revolutions but then the lights went out and the Fiend appeared. The Fiend then gave Cesaro the Mandible Claw before appearing on the stage to end the night. This is the second time that the Fiend has attacked Cesaro in the dark match segment in the last week, as last week’s Monday Night Raw ended in the same way. Wyatt is scheduled to challenge Seth Rollins for the Universal Title at Crown Jewel.
You may have seen something like this before. Check out the Fiend invading again:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that helps but at the same time, the damage has already been done. Wyatt lost so much energy and power after that match in the Cell and there is no way around it. Attacking Cesaro to end the show gave the fans a little something to help him, but they have to find some way to build him up more permanently. That would seem to be giving him the title at Crown Jewel, though I’m not sure I can picture WWE actually doing it. It’s a nice sentiment, but unless they go somewhere with Wyatt very soon, it is too little and too late.
