That doesn’t sound good. Earlier this month, Drew McIntyre was reported to be recovering from surgery. It wasn’t clear what was wrong with him but he was said to be coming back to the ring sooner rather than later, suggesting that it might not have been as bad of a condition as it could have been. We now have some more details on the situation and it was not a great situation.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, McIntyre’s condition was not due to anything muscle or bone related. Instead, McIntyre was rather sick, to the point where he was barely able to get out of bed to face Cedric Alexander in the first round on August 26. McIntyre was then told by WWE to go see a doctor, who ordered McIntyre into surgery later that day. He has since been cleared and will be back in the ring soon. The specific issue has not been revealed.
McIntyre can go somewhere in the ring. Check out what he could do when he was sick:
Opinion: That’s the kind of thing that you don’t know what you’re seeing while you watch it. McIntyre was banged up and in bad shape during the match but went through with it anyway. For the life of me I don’t get why McIntyre hasn’t gotten a much stronger push but maybe he can have a chance when he gets back in the ring. WWE is going to need some new stars soon, so maybe we can get somewhere this time around.
