Where oh where has our Rusev gone? One of the less talked about stories over the last few weeks has been the return of Rusev. After having been injured earlier this year, Rusev has been absent since before the Superstar Shakeup. It turns out that there’s a bit of a story behind it, which tie into a lot of recent changes in WWE.
According to the “Wrestling Observer Newsletter”
by way of 411mania.com, the original plans called for Rusev to receive a Smackdown World Title shot against Randy Orton at “Money in the Bank 2017”. However, with Jinder Mahal winning the title in a major upset, Rusev’s return was put on hold. He is now awaiting a new story before returning to television.
Opinion: I really hope the delay doesn’t last that long as Rusev is someone who could do a lot of good things for “Smackdown Live”. He’s talented, he’s over as a heel and he can be an instant top heel if necessary. If WWE really can’t come up with something for him just because they’ve recently done a similar story with Mahal, they’re in even more trouble than they could be otherwise.
