This time for sure. Hideo Itami is one of the most talented performers in NXT if not the entire wrestling world. He’s been close to winning the NXT Title multiple times but every single time he keeps getting injured right before he’s ready to win the big one. With Itami on the shelf with another injury, we’re just waiting on him to come back yet again.

That might be sooner rather than later. Itami has given us an update on his condition via his Twitter:

Itami has been out since October with a neck injury caused by a botched powerslam. Prior to his injury he had been feuding with Austin Aries in what seemed to be his springboard towards the NXT Title. Itami was last seen at a December house show in Japan in a promo. There is no word on when he’ll be back though NXT has taped its TV up through the next month.

Forgive me for not getting too excited but it’s hard to get my hopes up for Itami all over again. This is his second big time injury and I’m not sure how many more chances he’s going to get. Itami is 35 and basically had to start all over again after his shoulder injury. The good sign is that he seemed to be getting the hang of it and if he can stay healthy, he should be able to make a big breakthrough in a hurry.
