SmackDown Preview: Steel Cage Title Match, and Huge Rumored Return

SmackDown is promising another great episode tonight, with a huge title match on the cards, hints of a big announcement, and a major return rumored to be taking place. Let’s break it down.

After weeks of interference from various Las Luchadoras, Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss are set to settle their title feud once and for all inside a steel cage. The identity of La Luchadora has been one of the hottest bits of speculation on Tuesday night, but it seems there are two primary candidates for the final unmasking. One of them is Naomi, who recently returned to action at a live event.

That second possibility is Mickie James, who returned to action in NXT with an impressive match against Asuka at Takeover Toronto. So impressive, in fact, that she was signed to a full time WWE contract. Recent rumors have put tonight as her main roster comeback.

WWE.com is also saying that Shane McMahon will be opening SmackDown with a “huge announcement.” That could be a big announcement for Royal Rumble, or another upcoming show, or even the debut of Mickie James. We’ll find out tonight.

SmackDown is being held in Memphis tonight, and Jerry Lawler is returning to his throne for a special edition of King’s Court. His guest tonight is the recently heel-turned Ziggler, who will certainly be looking to cement himself as a very evil bastard.

We’ve also got dangling threads of turmoil in the Wyatt Family, and the Miz’s quest to reclaim the Intercontinental Championship and return to the A-list.

Oh, and Carmella is taking James Ellsworth on a shopping spree.
