There was a lot. This Saturday was one of the busiest nights in recent memory for wrestling as AEW aired their weekly Dynamite on a delay thanks to the NBA Playoffs while NXT aired its latest Takeover special with Takeover: XXX. As you might have expected, there were several major matches on both cards with several titles on the line. Some of them even saw titles changing hands, including in some big surprises.

There were multiple title changes during this weekend’s shows. First up was Dynamite, which saw the TNT Title change hands as Brodie Lee defeated Cody to become the second champion in history. Lee defeated Cody in just over three minutes with his discus lariat in a match where Cody had no major offense. After the match was over, Cody was taken out on a stretcher, with Lee attacking him again.

Two titles also changed hands at Takeover: XXX. Damian Priest became the new North American Champion by winning a ladder match for the vacant title. Keith Lee vacated the title upon winning the NXT Title, leaving the champion to be determined in a ladder match also involving Cameron Grimes, Velveteen Dream, Bronson Reed and Johnny Gargano. Then in the main event, Karrion Kross defeated Lee to win the NXT Title with a super Doomsday Saito, making Lee the second shortest reigning champion in the title’s history at 45 days.

These were some big matches. Check out how they went down:

Opinion: That’s how you get a big show going and some of these changes are pretty interesting. The TNT Title change is the biggest surprise of them all as Lee absolutely squashed Cody. I’m curious to see where that story is going as it isn’t the kind of thing you would ever expect to see. Hopefully the followup works, because that story could have some legs underneath it.
