The logical move. We’re less than two weeks away from Extreme Rules and the card is mostly announced. While the lack of extreme matches is very noticeable so far, there are still matches that can be added to the card to flesh things out a little bit. It helps that some of the stories have been set up already and one fairly obvious match has been confirmed for the show.
As announced on WWE.com, the SmackDown Tag Team Champions Daniel Bryan and Rowan will defend their titles against Big E. and Xavier Woods of the New Day at Extreme Rules. The match was set up last month when New Day defeated the champions in an eight man elimination tag match and then in a regular tag match the following night. This will be Bryan and Rowan’s second televised title defense despite winning the titles on May 7.
Here’s a little preview. Check out the second match between the two:
Opinion: While I’m not wild on how the match was set up or about seeing New Day getting another title shot, the match itself should be quite good. Despite being in the title picture for the better part of ever, New Day is one of the best teams in the company and has been for a very long time. The match being good will make up for some of its issues and odds are that will be the case given who is involved.
