It’s a quick trip to the bad list. There are a lot of people in WWE but some of them get a little bit more prominence than others. Some people have just earned more attention and that is the case with CM Punk, who has only just returned to the company. It has certainly been a hot topic in the company and the fact that this weekend’s Survivor Series was held in Punk’s hometown of Chicago made it even worse. Punk was mentioned, and one person is not happy about it.
During Monday Night Raw, Seth Rollins’ promo was cut off by a series of Punk chants from the crowd. Rollins insulted Punk, saying that Punk would rather sit behind a desk and talk instead of showing up. Rollins has taken several shots at Punk on Twitter in recent weeks, including challenging him to a match at WrestleMania 36 next year. However, a major name in WWE disapproved.
The match has taken place before. Check out Punk vs. Rollins:
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Vince McMahon was said to be “furious” over Rollins’ promo, mainly due to Rollins hinting at a match that WWE will not be able to deliver. While Rollins did not mention a match with Punk taking place anytime soon, he made it seem like something could be taking place. The line was missing from the YouTube version of the segment from Monday Night Raw.
So this is as close as we can get. Check out Rollins’ segment that included the since removed line:
Opinion: I can get the idea here but it wasn’t even the first time that Punk was mentioned over the weekend. AJ Styles did something similar on SmackDown, saying that he could beat up anyone in Chicago, including Punk. Assuming McMahon is mad at Rollins, shouldn’t he be mad at Styles at the same time? It is a point that can make some sense, but Rollins getting in hot water over the whole thing seems a little much no?
