That’s a long time. Injuries are the kind of thing that no one wants to see happen in wrestling as they can change someone’s career, if not their life, in the blink of an eye. They can take place at any given time or in any given move and that makes them one of the scariest things possible in wrestling. What might be worse than the injury is the recovery time though and that is where we are today.
According to Fightful Select by way of Sportskeeda.com, Mickie James’ likely return date to the ring after ACL surgery is April 2020. James injured her knee on June 1 of this year in a match against Carmella and had surgery earlier this week. She has been part of WWE since 2005 and is a six time Women’s Champion. Before her injury, her most recent televised match had been the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal at WrestleMania 35.
James can still do a lot when she’s healthy. Check out her getting violent with Alexa Bliss:
Opinion: James may not be the star that she once was but she is the kind of person who can offer a lot to the younger wrestlers in the division. She has a lot of experience and will likely be offered a trainer’s role when she hangs up her boots. Hopefully she can come back healthy and get in a few more feuds and perhaps even one more title reign to tie Trish Stratus.
Will James ever be Women’s Champion again? What should she do when she is healthy again? Let us know in the comments below.
