You have to fill the card up with something. I know it might seem hard to believe, but we are less than a month away from the Royal Rumble. Of course there are going to be the show’s two namesake matches and the World Titles being defended, but you need a little bit more than that. Some of the other matches need to be added to the card to flesh it out some more and that’s where we are today.
With so many people involved in the Royal Rumble matches themselves, you kind of have some slim pickings to choose from for the other matches. That doesn’t mean you can’t put together a good card though and that’s what WWE is going to try to do for Houston. Some seeds have already been planted and now we might have a good idea of where things are going to go for the pay per view.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, several matches are either set for the show or likely for the show. In addition to the already announced matches, some things scheduled for the show include Asuka challenging Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Title, Bray Wyatt defending the Universal Title against the Miz, Daniel Bryan or King Corbin, Brock Lesnar defending the WWE Champion, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley defending against Lacey Evans and Braun Strowman challenging Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Title. Wyatt’s opponent will be determined during this week’s SmackDown.
That’s a big card. Check out some of the build towards some of those matches:
Opinion: This is turning into a rather nice show and I could go with seeing most of the card. The Royal Rumble is a hard one to pull off with so many wrestlers being devoted to the two battle royals but that doesn’t mean that the show can’t have a good supporting card. I’m looking forward to some of these matches and maybe we can get a nice boost to get them out of their horrible funk.
