Third Generation Wrestler Now Free Agent With Companies Interested

He’s on the market. The wrestling world has changed a lot in recent years and that is a good thing. Above all else, wrestlers now have more options where national, if not international, audiences can see them on a regular basis. That is something that has not been available before and it is a very good change of pace. Now one more name is going to have his pick of where to go.

Being a third generation star is going to help a wrestler quite a bit. Not only do you have name recognition, but you also have more of a history in how wrestling works. This could be anything from having one of your parents show you the ins and outs of the sport to having some additional training. If you come from a wrestling family, the upgrade is even better. Now a wrestler who fits both categories is hitting the free agent market.

Major League Wrestling owner Court Bauer held a media call following this week’s edition of Fusion. During the call, Bauer announced that Davey Boy Smith Jr. is done with the promotion following his loss in the first round of the Opera Cup tournament. This makes Smith a free agent, allowing him to sign wherever he likes. There is no word on where Smith will wind up, but he is said to have interest from multiple companies.

Opinion: This is kind of a no brainer and it makes a lot of sense for companies to be interested in acquiring Smith. He has the look, the athletic ability and the size to go with a lineage that is hard to top in wrestling. This is a situation you don’t get to see very often and hopefully it lets Smith go wherever he wants while making a nice payday at the same time. What do you think of Smith?
