It worked before. There are so many people under the WWE banner these days that it can be a little bit difficult to figure out a way to bring them into the company. At the end of the day, there are only so many ways to bring these wrestlers in. Sometimes it can help to look back to the past though and that is what WWE was considering as a way to debut an incoming wrestler.

Back in November, Chelsea Green made her main roster debut as part of a four way match. The match was originally a triple threat but Green convinced Adam Pearce to add her to the match. It was a surprise debut but Green wound up breaking her wrist for the second time, putting her right back on the shelf all over again. It turns out that there were originally different plans for her debut and it would been recreating a classic angle.

According to Fightful Select, WWE scrapped plans to recreate the 2005/6 angle of Mickie James being Trish Stratus’ obsessed fan with Green as James and James as Stratus. The idea went so far that the two filmed content for the angle, only to have the plans scrapped so Green could debut as she did instead. There is no word on if James and Green will be put into a story together when Green returns.

It was a cool idea. Check out the original story and Green’s debut:

Opinion: The original angle was an interesting way to go but I’m not sure how well it would have worked here. Green is someone the fans would have at least seen before in NXT and there was no indication that she was some kind of super fan or crazed stalker back then. Instead she debuted as a regular wrestler and while she did not get to showcase herself very well, the lack of an angle that could have gone south might be an improvement.

What did you think of Green’s debut? Would you want to see the angle recreated? Let us know in the comments below.
