I’d call that a game changer. We are in an unprecedented time in the wrestling world and that might not be going away anytime soon. WWE is in a strange place due to the Coronavirus outbreak changing everything going on in the world and there is no telling what is going to happen from week to week. It also means that we might be in for the biggest change imaginable.
For nearly the last forty years, WWE has been run by the iron fist of Vince McMahon. While you can see some other people having some influence, McMahon has been the boss the entire time and it is hard to imagine anyone else in that position of power. However, things change every day in wrestling and there is a possibility that we could see the ultimate change at the top of WWE.
Former WWE star Dutch Mantell sent out a tweet saying he had heard that WWE is in negotiations to be sold to ESPN and FOX by the middle of May. The two companies have been airing WWE programming since the Coronavirus outbreak and McMahon mentioned that he would be open to offers during last week’s financial conference call. According to Wrestling Observer Live however, the likelihood of any sort of sale taking place in the next few months is unlikely given the uncertainty involving the Coronavirus.
HUGE NEWS: Any truth to this. Overheard directly out of @WWE Stamford is that a deal is being negotiated to sell WWE & the network to @ESPN and @FOX by as early as Mid May. @mattkoonmusic

WWE has some history of selling. Check out some sell outs:
Opinion: This is something where I’ll believe it when I see it. I know things have not been going so well for WWE, but they just announced one of their most successful quarters ever. Now maybe that drives up their price and McMahon wants to sell high, but for the life of me I just can’t picture this actually taking place. Maybe I’ll be surprised, but that is such a big leap to make, especially in such a short amount of time.
