Take it however you can. There are some wrestlers who can have all of the talent in the world but are held down by some kind of a gimmick or character or name that no one could get around. They can have all of the chances that they want but because of that one thing, all of the work in the world is not going to be all that effective. One wrestler is certainly trying, and this time around it might be working.
Despite all of the natural talent that he has, Chad Gable has been saddled with the ring name of Shorty G. after King Corbin declared it his new name last year. Gable’s entire gimmick became that he was short, ignoring his in-ring abilities and natural charisma. This wound up not working very well, but now it might be time to try something new. At least the boss thinks so.
This week on SmackDown, Gable turned heel by aligning himself with King Corbin. According to Tom Colohue of SportsKeeda.com, Corbin has been pushing for more wrestlers to get a chance backstage and Vince McMahon believes it could be used to make some new stars. McMahon sees a lot of Kurt Angle in Gable, which is a factor in the decision to give him a push.
I think they can use something like this. Check out Gable doing what he does best:
Opinion: I’ll take it. At this point I’ll take anything for Gable other than that ridiculous gimmick he has been stuck with for so long now. How in the world do you look at Gable and think that the best thing for him is a gimmick based around the fact that he isn’t very tall? You would think he was shorter than Rey Mysterio based on the gimmick rather than thinking about everything else he could do, and unfortunately it has taken this long to get him somewhere. Such is life in WWE, which explains a lot.
What do you think of Gable? What should he do next? Let us know in the comments below.
