The comeback story. Earlier this year, Edge made a shocking return to the ring after a nearly nine year absence. That is the kind of thing that you never see in wrestling and yet he pulled it off, which is quite the accomplishment. Edge went on to defeat Randy Orton at WrestleMania 36 but tore his tricep in the rematch, putting him on the shelf for several months. He will be back though, and it might be in a big way.

One of Edge’s greatest calling cards over the course of his career is the number of World Titles that he has won. In less than six years, Edge won eleven World Titles, putting him near the top of the list for most World Titles won in a career. He was even the World Champion when he retired for the first time in 2011, which seemed to be his final title reign. That actually might not be the case.

According to Wrestlingnews.co, WWE is considering an idea that would have Orton win the WWE Championship from Drew McIntyre and going on to defend it against Edge at either the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania 37. McIntyre would eventually win the title back with fans in attendance in order to receive his true crowning moment and become the new top star in WWE.

That’s quite the story. Check out how some of these matches might have gone:

Opinion: It sounds like a solid enough plan but at the end of the day, how many times do we need to see Edge vs. Orton? And better than that, how many times does WWE need to set up this “perfect” coronation? It’s annoying that McIntyre had to win the title in front of no live fans, but WWE spent years trying to get the Roman Reigns coronation just right. Why are we needing to do that again here with McIntyre?

What do you think of the idea? Who should take the title from McIntyre? Let us know in the comments below.
