I guess that counts as a type. There have been few more surprising and bizarre stories this year than that of Otis. The rather large and mainly comedic wrestler has gone from a middle of the road tag team to a big singles match at WrestleMania and a genuine midcard solo act. That’s one of the more amazing transformations you’ll ever see and it turns out he has quite the backstory.
The biggest reason for Otis’ rise has been his incredible charisma, which has been boosted by tying him together with Mandy Rose. The two of them are a great oddball pairing and the two of them are doing rather well as an on screen couple. Rose has done a very nice job of making herself a more well rounded character, but it turns out that she might not be Otis’ original blonde wrestler.
Speaking with Digital Spy, Otis told a story about attending a WWE event when he was in fifth grade and ran towards the barricade to high five Trish Stratus. Despite being about eleven years old, Otis weighed about 200lbs and said he “looked like a man, almost”. As a result, a security guard speared him down to cut Otis off from possibly jumping the barricade. Otis did not say if he was hurt or not, but he did receive free front row tickets to the next event at the venue.
Otis may have a type. Check out what he’s been up to lately, plus the two women in question:
Opinion: That’s a heck of a story and something that at least had a happy ending. There’s something so cool about the fact that one of probably many people who had to be dealt with like wound up making it to WWE. You never know what someone is going to be doing about twenty years later and it’s something he can talk about for years to come. Otis has done great as of late and I’m curious to see how far he can go.
