What could have been. With WrestleMania 37 coming just around the corner, there are a lot of things that need to be covered. WWE should have been setting up the show months ago and it does seem that they have a few plans in place. Some of the show’s matches have already been announced but not everything that is planned can wind up working. Now we know where one match was going.
One of the biggest stories on Monday Night Raw in recent weeks has been the issues between Charlotte and Ric Flair. Charlotte did not approve of Flair’s relationship with Lacey Evans but Flair did not seem to mind. The Evans aspect had to be dropped she announced her pregnancy, which threw a big wrench into a lot of plans. One of those plans has since been revealed.
According to Fightful Select, the original plans for Elimination Chamber would have seen Evans defeating Asuka to become the new Raw Women’s Champion. Evans would have then gone on to defend the title against Charlotte at WrestleMania 37. The match had already been announced for the show but was called off after Evans announced her pregnancy earlier in the week. Asuka did not wrestle at the event.
It was an interesting story. Check out how things went down:
Opinion: I don’t know how much of a surprise this would have been as the story was not exactly the most subtle in the world. You could see the Evans vs. Charlotte title match coming several weeks ago but that does not make it the worst idea. I’m not sure how the WrestleMania match would have gone, but at least they would have had a story built up that far in advance for a change.
