You can scratch him. A surprise is almost always a fun idea in wrestling and the best part is you can do it with just about anything. Maybe it’s a match, a stipulation, a debut, a return or something in between, but the idea of having something unknown can make for some very interesting moments. While we don’t know who an upcoming surprise will be, we know who it won’t be.

During this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite, new signee Paul Wight announced that the company would announce a new signing on Sunday at Revolution. Wight made it clear that the signing would be a “Hall of Fame worthy” name but did not give any further information. This immediately led to speculation of who it might be, and while we do not know who it will be, we know one person it will not be.

According to Raj Giri of Wrestlinginc.com, Christian has re-signed with WWE and will not be the surprise at Revolution. This comes after Christian made a surprise return to the ring at the Royal Rumble in January. The match was his first significant appearance in a match since 2014, save for a one minute match against Randy Orton in June 2020 which saw Christian attacked before the match began.

Christian could be rather interesting to have in WWE. Check out some of his better moments:

Dolph Ziggler vs. Christian: SmackDown, March 7, 2014

FULL MATCH - Sheamus vs. Christian: WWE Hell in a Cell 2011

Christian vs. The Miz Intercontinental Championship: Raw, July 23, 2012

Opinion: When the announcement was made, Christian was the first name that came to my mind. With him out of the way, I’m not sure who we are going to be seeing in the spot and that makes for some interesting options. There are quite a few choices who could wind up being the big surprise and I’m curious to see who they have. That’s a good sign for AEW and hopefully we get a nice payoff.
