It’s a busy night. Summerslam is coming up and while it is traditionally a big show, WWE needs to think outside the box a bit at the moment. They have an ice cold product at the moment and need to come up with something to draw in the fans’ attention. One way they can do that is by shaking things up a bit, and that is what they are going to try in the women’s divisions.
Bayley and Sasha Banks are dominating the women’s title scene at the moment, with Bayley holding the SmackDown Women’s Title, Banks holding the Raw Women’s Title, and the two of them reigning as Women’s Tag Team Champions. That is quite the resume and they could be champions for a long time to come. However, one person might have a lot to say about that at Summerslam.
This week on SmackDown, Asuka won a battle royal to become the new #1 contender to the SmackDown Women’s Title, earning a shot against Bayley at Summerslam. Asuka is already #1 contender to Banks’ Raw Women’s Title, with that title shot coming at Summerslam as well. Asuka will face both champions for both titles on the same night in separate title matches.
They’ve been here before. Check out Asuka vs. both champs:
Opinion: I’m not sure what to think of this but it should be an interesting way to go. At the end of the day, Asuka is one of the only women in WWE who is on the same level as Banks and Bayley. There’s a chance of her winning one if not both titles and that could make for an interesting moment. Hopefully WWE can start building up someone new though, because they have to do something sooner or later to fix their problem.
What do you think of the idea? Will Asuka leave with titles? Let us know in the comments below.
