It’s in the details. Titles have been the most important part of wrestling companies since the business began. It’s as simple of a concept as you can get: a wrestler is the best and has a shiny belt to prove it. Maybe they earned it and maybe they didn’t, but they accomplished something and have something other people want. Titles are going to be recognized, and that is the case in a bigger way today.

The traditional title structure for a company is a World Title, Tag Team Titles, a midcard title and possibly a Women’s Title. That works out well enough, though there are several little twists that you can make to the setup. The titles are all important, but if they look great, it can make things even better. That was a problem for a prominent wrestling company, but it has since been fixed.

The completed design of the AEW TNT Title was unveiled this week on AEW Dynamite. The title was introduced at Double Or Nothing 2020 but the design had not been completed due to issues involving the Coronavirus pandemic. All of the silver has been replaced by gold plating, including the TNT letters in the middle. Cody successfully defended the title against Scorpio Sky on this week’s Dynamite.

It’s a good looking belt. Check out the champ in action:

Opinion: This is quite the relief, as was hearing that the silver version wasn’t the completed design. I’ve never been one to understand why a title would be anything other than gold, so seeing the finished version is a big step up. The TNT in the middle still doesn’t do much for me, but at least it looks like a championship rather than a novelty, so they’re moving in the right direction.
