One of the greatest of all time. Ever since its inception, AEW has added several former WWE superstars to its roster, expanding the roster to feature talent from all over the world. Tonight, another former WWE legend made his debut, but it’s not who you might think it is.

On this week’s episode of Dynamite, referee Mike Chioda made his debut with AEW, serving as a referee for both the TNT Championship match between Cody and Scorpio Sky as well as the main event, which featured Chris Jericho and Orange Cassidy.

Chioda had been a professional wrestling referee with WWE for over 30 years, serving with the company from 1989 until his release in April 0f this year. Check out some of his work in the past:

It is unknown at this time if this was a one-off appearance or if Chioda will be joining the AEW roster permanently.

Editor’s Opinion:

This is a pleasant surprise and a very welcome one! I have always been critical of the officiating in AEW and I feel that a veteran like him could bring a sense of legitimacy to its referees. In addition, he can teach the next generation of officials how to operate and do their job better in the ring. This is a win-win for everyone involved!
